Check out the thrilling new Ant-Man and the Wasp Trailer. The sequel to the surprise 2015 hit Ant-Man. The trailer sees our heroes enter the Quantum Realm to find the original Wasp. The new footage gives us a better look at the villainous Ghost and showcases how Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) and the Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) work together to fight crime, as well as seeing plenty of ridiculously oversized items. It has previously been established that Ant-Man and the Wasp will be set between the events of Civil War and Infinity War, which only adds another level of mystery to the whole situation. Wherever the pair where during Infinity War, Marvel has confirmed that their solo outing will focus on their battle with the masked criminal Ghost, who has the power to phase through solid substances.
The Ant-Man and The Wasp trailer makes it clear that Hope Van Dyne’s the Wasp is just as good, if not better, at this superhero stuff than Ant-Man, at least if flying, taking down bad guys with martial arts, and using blasters are the signs of great superhero-ing. Of course the biggest and most exciting change here is Evangeline Lilly’s Hope van Dyne getting to suit up as The Wasp, after only getting to look longingly at the outfit at the end of the first Ant-Man. Not only is she Marvel’s first female character to get headline billing, but her suit has extra bells and whistles compared to Scott Lang’s.
There’s also the return of Michael Douglas as older Ant-Man, Dr. Hank Pym, Paul Rudd once again riding a flying ant. Fans caught a quick glimpse of Bill Foster in the previous teaser, but the brand new trailer features the first mention of his alter-ego.Foster is played in Ant-Man and The Wasp by Laurence Fishburne, and in the new trailer he is featured in a scene with Ant-Man/Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and The Wasp/Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly), where his old identity of Goliath is first mentioned. In the clip, he says “I was partners with Hank on a project called Goliath.”
Lang then asks him “how big did you get”, prompting Foster to reveal his record of 21 feet. Lang then reveals his record of 65 feet, segueing to a clip of him growing to epic size and looming above a large ship. With Foster seemingly helping out Pym once more, we can only imagine the craziness we’re in store for.
From the Marvel Cinematic Universe comes a new chapter featuring heroes with the astonishing ability to shrink: Ant-Man and The Wasp. In the aftermath of Captain America: Civil War, Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) grapples with the consequences of his choices as both a Super Hero and a father. As he struggles to rebalance his home life with his responsibilities as Ant-Man, he’s confronted by Hope van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) and Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) with an urgent new mission. Scott must once again put on the suit and learn to fight alongside The Wasp as the team works together to uncover secrets from their past.
Ant-Man and the Wasp hits UK cinemas on 3 August.
