102 Not Out is a Fabulous Family Entertainer

102 Not Out – is an ageless comedy that brings together Indian Cinema’s two biggest stalwarts – Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor after 27 years, with the two legends playing father-son duo for the first time. Billed as the most unusual father and son love story, the movie is based on playwright Saumya Joshi’s well known Gujarati play by the same name and has been adapted into a feature by him.Can the hit pair hit the jack pot again?

102 years young Dattatraya Vakharia (Amitabh Bachchan) lives life to the fullest and wants to break the record of oldest living man- that’s held by a 118 years old Chinese. Dattatraya wants to live a stress free life in order to become the oldest living man. However, there is only one hinderance- his 75 year old son Babulal (Rishi Kapoor) who has resigned himself to a life of old age stuck in drudgery. Dattatraya now must find means and ways to change Babulal’s sad and grumpy demeanour so that he doesn’t become a deterrent in breaking the record. Little do they realise that this roller coaster ride filled with comedy, emotion and commotion, will change them and their relationship forever.

Direction by Umesh Shukla has done a fabulous job of teaching us all to remember to celebrate life, no matter how old or how young you are, because these moments will never come back.We get Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor, who have come together after 27 years, portraying one of the craziest parent-child duos we have seen on screen. The director has come good on when we watch his entertaing film wre reminded of the loved ones in our lifes — parents, siblings, children, uncles and aunts. After watching this excellent directors dilm you will understand and love them even more for all their idiosyncrasies. Umesh Shuklas quirky Dattatreya and Babulal, after the film is over, you will want to take them home.Stand up Mr Shukla for giving us such a sweet meaningful film with a great message.

Perfrmance wise Amitabh Bachchan proves once agai why he is the undisputed legend of the Hindi Silver screen. He proves with this quirky character that age is but a number, he makes you laugh, cry, love and wants you to reclaim that zest for life that has.character Dattatraya Vakharia. Just when us the audience thinks the legend has shown us everythinh, he amazes us with this quirky character with his cool Gujrati accent. Rishi Kapoor is the perfect foil as he to gits the ball out of the park with his 75-year-old grumpy Babulal Vakharia character.Both veterens put up an engaging father and son act, keeping the audience in splits and tears for the duration of the film.Both are helped by the great material they have to work on. The story, screenplay and dialogue writer Saumya Joshi, who is also the playwright of the original Gujarati play by the same name, gives both Bachchan and Kapoor ample scope to display their histrionics.Both are enduring as father ans son and we do hope to see more films from these two.

The music  of the film is composed by  A. R. RahmanSalim–SulaimanGeorge Joseph..”Bachche Ki Jaan” is the first song is a happy fun peppy number. We have ‘Badumbaaa’.. Big B explains what exactly is “Badumbaa”. “Ye ek josh hai, ye khushi ka ehsaas hai jo is gaane se zaahir ho jaega aapko,” The song is fun and vibrant, to say the least. With some peppy lyrics, it portrays the relationship between the father-son duo, Next we have the quirky, sweet relationship of veteran actors Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor’s father-son duo in director Umesh Shukla’s 102 Not Out has taken a sensitive turn with the latest song from the film, “Kulfi”. The aptly titled song has a sweet, cool flavour.We also have the classic “Waqt Ne Kiya Kya Haseen Sitaam” that adds weight to the sound track.The music of the film compliments the quirky comedy fabulously.

102 Not Out is a fabulous family entertainer with a comedic story, which revolves around a quirky father-son duo, Dattatreya and Babulal, essayed by Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor, it is a slice-of-life comedy drama with a universal connect.
